West Coast Air Tour

Back in NYC, recovering from the west coast rock and roll tour with no instruments, no gear, no roadies, but at least a few air groupies.

I met this dude, a big fan who modelled his very own Make Air Not War t-shirt. Rock ON dude.

In SF, the competition was fierce. The usual assortment of semi-nude freaks, metalhead shredders, and even some classical and spanish airistocrats. There's a great review HERE.

LA was another story. It was great to be back at the Roxy, now as a host, and not facing the wrath of C-Diddy (who was one of the judges). But the performances were somewhat middle of the road. Not a single 6.0 was awarded. This is not to discount the excellence of the performers - my personal faves were the winner, Count Rockula, who did a stunning version of Alien Ant Farm's cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal," and veteran air madman The Airtight Messiah, got shafted by the judges for playing an Air Keytar to my favorite song ever, "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. Sorry Messiah...

Last, apparently in the UK, the first air cellist has hit the airwaves... Rock on, bro.

We await the finals in NYC June 22 - apparently 300 tix have already been sold, so buy tix soon!

So Much Air

Tribeca Film Fest is now over. It's been a rough and tumble week full of parties, air groupies, lots of screenings of Air Guitar Nation, and even some subway station air busking (with me and C-Diddy). I am plum tuckered out.

Here are some cool reviews of AIR GUITAR NATION:

Gothamist
Ain't It Cool News

And here's a commercial for the Air to the Throne Contest they are running on VH1. Still time to enter!

Next week I am off to LA and SF to emcee the west coast regionals. Check US AIR GUITAR for details...

VH1 launches Air to the Throne online competition

Listen up, airheads. Let's just say you are too poor to get your ass to a major city where an actual, regional US Air Guitar Championship is being held. Or let's say you already lost one.

Here's your chance for redemption.

VH1 has launched an Air to the Throne competition. Make a video of yourself air guitaring to one of the FOUR songs they were able to license and upload it. The winner goes to the US Finals and plays at some VH1 thing later this summer. See the website for details. Also make sure to get some important pointers from some of today's greatest living air masters (yours truly included).

Don't forget --AIR GUITAR NATION, the greatest air guitar documentary ever made is playing at the Tribeca Film Festival at the end of April. Click here for tix and more info.

Last but not LEAST, AIREOKE returns to Manhattan, May 4 at the Parkside Lounge. See Aireoke.com for details
