Air Guitar is Worth Dying For

Yes, it's true. Air guitar CAN kill you. A dude in singapore was rocking out SO hard, that he fell out of a window to his death.

I know you can get whiplash from air guitar headbanging, but now death? This is one risky sport people.

Also worth dying for? The EAST COAST CROWN of American Air Guitar.

Bjorn will be your emcee. Come on down. Enter at your own risk.

The NYC Regional Champion will secure a spot in the 2006 US Finals, where he or she will compete against Regional Champions from across the country as well as the first-ever Collegiate Champion. The US Finals will be held in New York City for the first time, in June or July (date TBD).

The winner of the US Finals will win a trip to Finland to represent the USA in the 11th annual Air Guitar World Championships.

"This will be the year air guitar spreads like an Oklahoma wildfire, and floods the airwaves of public consciousness like a Californian deluge. More Aireoke, a documentary, a book, a college air guitar tour, air guitar competitions in over ten cities...The air shit is hitting the fan, people. Lookout!"

In other news, Jerry Saltz, art critic for the Village Voice, was one of the judges at a recent air guitar competition which I had the pleasure of emcee'ing. Here's what he had to say about it.
